·         Target / goal – determine your target audience and what your ad needs to convey to get that audience’s attention 

·         Readability -- make the ad readable and not too busy with graphics/photographs 

·         Photographs and graphics -- make clear and simple 

·         Font -- use a font that displays and prints well 

·         Size and position – choose a size and place the ad where it will catch the readers eye 

·         Color -- use color but not too much. Use color to draw the reader’s attention
